Night in Hoxton (Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, San Cisco)

A while ago I saw little Aussie band San Cisco, who were introduced to me by an Aussie friend.  The band are from Western Australia and built up a huge following there, ending up on Triple J’s Hottest 100, before heading across the water to tour their album, which was released in 2012.

As usual, I did my internet stalking of the group, so knew we were sitting on the table next to them in the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen restaurant (good food but long waits).  They appeared really relaxed, eating greasy food and having a chat.  Considering the number of fans they no doubt have based in London, I though this was pretty cool (I would have eaten backstage.  Actually I wouldn’t have eaten at all!).

Their music is upbeat, catchy low-fi pop.  Even though I had only listened to their album once beforehand, I found myself dancing along anyway and the song “Lover” remained in my head for a few days.

Great band to watch, they give off a fun and friendly vibe without looking too in-your-face. I (as well as probably more than half the audience) also found myself staring at the drummer, Scarlet.  Not only is she very pretty and cool, she is also a bloody good drummer, that together with her ‘this drumming stuff is easy’ type air, all made me want to be her haha.

They are touring the UK again in October 2013, so I suggest you check them out!

About Hayles

Living in and loving London, I like to cram in as much as possible. I have a lot of different hobbies which I start on a whim and most of the time abandon for something else! My current interests include film, TV, music, comedy, art, photography, theatre and finding new yummy food establishments. Mostly I just love to experience the many joys and wonders that London offers. I started this blog to help me remember what I've actually done at the end of each year, but now I actually really enjoy writing and sharing what I hope is funny and/or useful information.
